MINISTERS’ WORKING VISIT TO ODA

The Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources in collaboration with Ghana Water Company Limited paid a working visit to the Brim River intake and Oda Water treatment plant. The Minister for Sanitation and Water, Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah first went to the Birim Central Municipal Assembly at Oda to introduce herself and her staff and to state the purpose of her visit. She later moved to the Birim River for inspection.  She was not satisfied with the state of the brim river. Due to illegal mining activities in the river, it is in a bad state. She stated that vegetation should be 100 meters away from the river but currently it’s about 50 meters away.

Minister suggested that CWSA should seek funds to continue the project also they should involve the green Ghana project as seedlings in the planting of the extra 50 meters vegetation.

They later moved to the Oda market to interact with the market women and also engaged with some drivers and G.P.R.T.U Officials.  Minister spoke on the need to keep the market clean and the importance of protecting our River and joining the fight against illegal mining. She was pleased with the warm reception from the people.

She said “If we do not stop protecting our water bodies’ posterity would judge us”
