Indian High Commissioner to Ghana Pays Courtesy Call on Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources. 19/09/18

The Sector Minister for the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon. Cecelia Abena Dapaah has received the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, HE Singh Birinder Yadar at her office when the former paid a courtesy call on the minister.

The meeting discussed the various projects being undertaken by the Indian government in Ghana especially in the area of water.

The Hon. Minister and her guests also discussed the possible areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Hon. Cecelia Dapaah on behalf of the President thanked the Indian government for her support to Ghana over the years. She said Ghana would continue to tap into the expertise of India especially in the area of solar power and technology.

The Honorable minister also called for the transfer of technology from India to Ghana in order to create jobs for the youth. Honorable Cecelia Abena Dapaah specifically proposed to the High Commissioner the possibility of establishing a spare parts industry in Ghana to take care of the water project facilities in the country which would also generate employment for the youth in line with the government program of IDIF. She indicated that the investment environment in the country is good, and Ghanaians are hardworking. Above all, Ghana believes in the rule of law.

On his part, the Indian High Commissioner H.E Singh Yadav commended Ghana for the long relationship between Ghana and India. He expressed the hope that the two countries would explore more areas of cooperation.

Also, at the meeting were the Deputy Ministers, Hon. Michael Gyato (MP) and Hon. Patrick Boamoah (MP), the Acting Chief Director Joseph Obeng-Poku and the various heads of the Directorates.
