The Directorate for Finance and Administration (F/A)
The Finance and AdministrationDirectorate deals mainly with administrative, managerial, secretarial, logistical and maintenance support to facilitate the functioning of the Sector. It also deals with General Accounting and the disbursement of the Ministry’s approved budget. It also safeguards the interest of the Ministry in all financial transactions relating to revenue and expenditure and ensures good financial administration.
The Directorate for Human Resource Development and Management (HRMD)
The Human Resource Development and Management Directorate is to ensure: the availability of requisite and adequately trained staff for the effective operations of the Ministry through modern human resource planning, the requisite skills mix for the effective and efficient functioning of the Directorate, and the implementation of approved human resource policies and practices of the Civil Service.
The Directorate also provides HR services to the Agencies under the sector and links them up with the Head of Civil Service and the Public Services Commission.
The Directorate for Policy Planning, Budgeting, Monitoring and Evaluation (PPBME)
This Directorate is responsible for the development of comprehensive and sustainable policies, legislation, plans, programmes and resource flows to the sector in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
It caters for the design and application of monitoring and evaluation systems for purposes of assessing the operational effectiveness of the Ministry, its implementing Departments and Agencies as well as the activities of other key stakeholders in meeting the sector’s short, medium, and long-term objectives and targets.
It also co-ordinates the preparation of the Sector’s Budget and the Medium Term Development Plan.
The Directorate for Research, Statistics and Information Management (RSIM)
The Research, Statistics and Information Management Directorate provides the needed input for policy formulation and decision making through collection, and analysis of both primary and secondary data, operational research and documentation.
The Directorate also projects the image of the Ministry by disseminating information on Sanitation, Water, and Works and other Key programmes and activities of the Ministry.
The Directorate for Water (W)
The main focus of the Directorate is the coordination of the policies, programmes and projects on water resources management and drinking water sub-sector of the Ministry.
The Directorate collaborates with the key Sub-Sector Agencies which includes Water Resources Commission, Ghana Water Company Limited, and Community Water and Sanitation Agency for effective service delivery.
The Directorate for Sanitation (S)
The main focus of the Directorate is the coordination of the policies, programmes and projects on all aspects of sanitation sub-sector of the Ministry.
The Directorate collaborates with the key Sub-Sector Agencies which includes Community Water and Sanitation Agency for effective service delivery.
Internal Audit Unit (IA)
The Internal Audit Unit is to provide objective assurance, evaluate the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls and governance processes for effective and efficient service delivery.
The core functions are to determine the timeliness and accuracy of financial information, evaluate compliance with statutory regulations, ascertain the judicious use of resources and facilitate risk management in the Ministry.
