MSWR LAUNCHES HAND HYGIENE FOR ALL STRATEGY AND ROADMAP FOR GHANA 2022-2030

The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon. Dr. Freda Akosua Prempeh has launched a ‘Hand Hygiene For all Strategy and Roadmap for Ghana 2022-2023’ at a press briefing at Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The Press Briefing which was also used to commemorate the Global Handwashing day, had Dr. Freda Prempeh and her counterpart, the Minister for Central Region Hon. Justina Marigold Assan interacting with the Market Men and Women of the Kotokuraba Market and reiterated the need for people to wash their hands frequently to prevent infectious diseases.

Hon. Freda Prempeh in her statement to the press, entreated people to change their attitude and embrace handwashing with soap under running water as part of their daily activities to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as Ebola, cholera, diarrhea, COVID-19 among others.

She further mentioned that scientific research shows that handwashing with soap prevents disease in a more straightforward and cost-effective way than any single vaccine adding “therefore the launch of the Hand Hygiene for All Strategy is not only a campaign, but demonstrates government’s commitment to ensuring that everyone, everywhere in Ghana, irrespective of their circumstances has access to what it takes to maintain proper hand hygiene”.
